PREAMBLE
The CPM Community Development Approaches for Donor-Funded Projects training is a two-week intensive programme designed to equip development practitioners, project managers, NGO staff, government officials, community leaders and other stakeholders with practical knowledge and skills for applying effective community development approaches in donor-funded projects.
The training focuses on participatory, inclusive and sustainable approaches to community development, with particular emphasis on the requirements of donor-funded programmes. Participants will explore how to engage communities effectively throughout the project cycle, conduct participatory needs assessments, identify community priorities, strengthen local ownership, manage stakeholder relationships, promote inclusion and gender responsiveness, and ensure that project interventions are sustainable and accountable.
The course also examines common donor expectations relating to community participation, safeguarding, accountability, monitoring and evaluation, results-based management, risk management and sustainability. Practical case studies, group exercises and project-planning activities will enable participants to apply the approaches to real-world development projects.
